Indigenous Mesoamerican clay instrument making workshop with Otomi elder, Maestro Ramiro Ramirez.

We will learn how to make an Ehecachichtli, a unique wind instrument endemic to the Americas often misnamed "aztec death whistle”.

The workshop will be led by Ramiro Ramirez Duarte, who is a master musician and indigenous clay instrument maker from the Otomi people of Guanajuato, central Mexico. He is a former member of Grupo Tribu, and as a soloist has worked in making original music as well as music for films, including Black Panther Wakanda Forever.

The workshop will begin with a brief history and demonstration of the instruments.
